TOUR 5 : BYZANTINE HIGHLIGHTS
(16th April 2009 - Tour for accompanying person)
(14h00 – 17h30) After the transfer from the hotel we start our discovery of Istanbul with the highlights of the Byzantine period. Our tour includes the Chora Church (*), the City Walls (**) and Yedikule Dungeon’s.
(*) The Chora Church (closed on Wednesdays) is for sure a rival of St-Sophia, if not in size and architecture, then at least in the spectacular treasure of 14th century mosaics and frescoes portraying the life and miracles of Christ. They are the most important and extensive series of Byzantine paintings in the city and among the most significant in the world.
