TOUR 9: CAPPADOCIA, THE LAND OF THE HORSES
(16^th – 18^th April 2009)

After 10h00, following the transfer from hotel to the domestic airport we will board a Turkish Airlines flight to Nevsehir. Upon arrival, we will board the waiting coaches and depart for the hotel located in the heartland of Cappadocia which is just approximately an hours drive away.
Arrival at the hotel, check-in and free time to go around and dinner.
Overnight at cave boutique hotels.

On the 1st full day in Cappadocia: Our first real encounter with Cappadocia’s almost Martian landscape is in the Dervent valley, where the rock formations are amazing. A walk through the Zelve Open Air Museum is a journey into the past, with its troglodyte houses. This is one of the earliest inhabited and latest abandoned monastic settlements in Cappadocia. After Zelve we visit Pasabag’s “fairy chimneys”, where the voice of the wind harmonises with the songs of the fairies. From here we pause at Avanos, a centre of terracotta art since 3,000 BC, for a demonstration in a traditional pottery workshop. After lunch in Avanos, we visit the famous Goreme Open Air Museum to see the best examples of Byzantine art in Cappadocia. These are found in rock-cut churches with frescoes and paintings dating from as early as the 10^th entury. We complete the tour with a visit to the Uchisar Rock-Castle, giving you a panoramic view of the valleys of Cappadocia.
In the evening free time for dinner and overnight at the hotel.

The morning of the departure day will be at leisure.. And at the end of the morning, transfer to the airport and flight to Istanbul following by return flight to home.

Per person in double room: 400.- €
Supplement for single room: 60.- €
